It is always a great privilege to be asked to represent or serve one's community in any capacity. It is therefore with great sense of duty and pride that I have accepted to serve as the President of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo UK and Ireland for the next two years.
Ohanaeze being a nascent organisation in the United Kingdom, I fully understand the challenges ahead, not least, convincing sceptics that the dark clouds hanging over the parent organisation in Nigeria is fast dissipating with the election of Amb. Ralph Unwaechie, as the new President General.
To foster unity among Igbo organisations in the United Kingdom and Ireland, by encouraging the independence of each organisation whilst emphasising one of our core values of "Igwe bu ike" under a single Ohanaeze.
To harness the vast intellectual resources of Ndi Igbo in the UK for the benefit of our communities in Diaspora and in Nigeria.
To collaboration with other Nigerian Organisations in the UK on issues of mutual interest.
To forge strong partnership with Ohanaeze in Nigeria, with a view to influencing, in a positive way, decisions that could shape the destiny of Ndi Igbo worldwide.
I am confident that with the cooperation of my dynamic executive, the support of the Affiliate Member Organisations (AMOs) and the goodwill so far shown by our community, Ohanaeze UK will be a force for positive change.
